Hey everyone!
I'm sitting here in my office at Central College, disappointed that my 10:30 client failed to show up. It happens from time to time and it's not really a big deal, but it's still quite boring to sit around waiting for them. So...in order to alleviate that boredom this morning, I'm going to write.
Things have been fairly calm here for awhile. I'm waiting anxiously for my friend Mary to arrive. She gets in on the 12th of March, and I'm so excited to see her! I keep mentally making all these big and somewhat unrealistic plans for when she'll be here. The latest installment of those plans includes going to Stonehenge...which, as Chris helpfully pointed out, isn't really anywhere near Glasgow. HOWEVER, Stonehenge is closer to Glasgow than it is to Minnesota, which means that we will almost be required to go while she's here. My 'special' brand of logic serves me well. We'll see what happens.
On Saturday night, Chris and I went out for dinner and then did a mini pub crawl in Partick, which is the area of Glasgow where we live. It was pretty good. My favorite part was when we were in a pub that is basically meant for old men, and I was drinking some very dark beer. A giant, older man ordered the same beer at the bar, turned around, saw me with my pint and said, "Are we drinking the same thing? Christ's sake!"
Yesterday, I had brunch with Chris, Eithne and another girl named Mari, and it was really nice. I knew that my friends from home were having brunch together that day, so having brunch with new friends sort of made it easier not to be able to have brunch with my 'home friends'.
Later in the day, Chris and I cleaned the heck out of our kitchen. It NEEDED it. It almost needed an exorcism, it was so filthy. It's tough to keep it clean because it is tiny, and there are 5 of us using it. We even tried to rearrange things so that we could have about 8% more space, but the next time we went in, two of our flatmates had put things back in their original position. Then they drank a bunch of whiskey and Pepsi and had an early-90s music dance party in their room until 5 AM...just like every other night.
Alright, I've got to run to the bathroom before my next client shows up. I hope you're all doing well!
Miss you.
xo
