You may or may not be wondering how my goals are coming along. Wellll...I have my first interview for a counselling placement on Monday. If I were to get this one, it would be fantastic! The position is with a counselling office within a college, and is located very near to my supervisor, Orly, just off of Buchanan Street. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one!
My paper is not yet written, but I've got a clear idea of what I am going to write about, and I have all my sources in hand. The other day, a couple of my classmates and I got together to discuss our assignment progress (and consume massive amounts of tea and biscuits), and it seems as though I may be further along than the others, so I'm counting this as a small victory.
**Side Note: I am enamored with my classmate's house. His dad works for a museum and is really interested in history and art and has amazing collections all over the place. The room that we studied in looks like it was taken out of a museum because it is full of original paintings and beautiful glassware. It also just looks really British because of the moulding around the ceiling, the giant chandelier in the middle, the tiny fireplace, and the yellow walls. At one point, my classmate stood up and walked over to this big octagonal wooden box and set it on the table in front of us. He made us guess what was inside. I guessed it was silverware or old pictures and postcards. When he opened it up, it was full of colorful seashells glued to the bottom in an interesting pattern! I couldn't stop laughing! Apparently, this odd thing was hundreds of years old, and things like that were commonly given by sailors to their girlfriends or families. Isn't that weird? Anyway, his house is full of stuff like that, and every room has a fireplace. I. Love. It.**
And finally, it does not look as though I'm going to be leaving Glasgow during this break from school. However, Chris just bought us plane tickets to Florence for my Christmas present! We'll be there from January 28th until February 1st--a perfect little trip to Italy with one of my favorite people on the planet. It is the best Christmas present! (Sorry, ladies, he's taken, and unfortunately does not have a brother for you.)
I am feeling a lot less homesick just now. It just comes and goes sometimes. I really do miss you all and I think about everyone a lot.
I guess some of you want to see pictures, and I'm working on it, but I'm not doing much that warrants taking pictures. When I do something interesting and take pictures of it, I'll put them up (I'm talking to you, Mary Beth!).
Alright, that's it for me. Have a great weekend!
